Sound Devices USBPre

Sound Devices USBPre 1.5 is a complete,  portable hardware interface for computer-based digital recording.  Designed for USB-equipped Macintosh® OS 9 and Windows® OS computers (98SE, ME, and 2000), USBPre quickly and easily interfaces studio microphones, line level  sources, musical instruments, and consumer audio electronics with personal computers. Its high-quality, 24-bit audio inputs offer the most direct signal path into the computer. All analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion is done outside of the computer, in the USBPre, for superior audio performance. S/PDIF coaxial I/O enables direct digital transfers into and out of the computer. 

USBPre has the flexibility to work with most  Windows and Mac recording and streaming software. Powered solely by the USB port  from either notebook or desktop computers, no additional power source is required - the computer provides all power needed for operation. The durable construction and  compact size of the USBPre allow  no-compromise digital recording  everywhere.

Front Panel

• Gain control for each input channel
• 48 V phantom power switch for mic inputs
• Input selection LED's and switch for the various input types
• Front panel meter calibrated in dB FS
• Headphone volume control,  Headphone "Mix" Control, controls monitoring source audio and computer audio
• Mono Headphone Monitoring Switch folds analog input sources to mono in the headphones. 

Inputs

• Two-XLR inputs for balanced and unbalanced microphones, 
• 1/4-inch shared connectors for balanced and  unbalanced line level sources and unbalanced high Z instruments
• RCA connectors for Aux level sources. 

Output and S/PDIF Panel

• Two stereo headphone output jacks, 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch
• PC audio output carries computer audio signals
• S/PDIF input and output connects, 
• USB connector carries all connections and  power with the computer.
