The A15AS attenuator operates by, in effect, bridging the microphone output and allowing maximum signal handleing with minimum loading-caused distortion or reduction in clipping level.  Thus high-output condenser microphones used at very high sound pressure levels can be connected to ordinary low-impedance inputs with appropriate attenuation for each application.

Highly recommended add-on for the Sennheiser K6 if going direct to deck from mics.  The K6 signal can be hot in close situations.  The Shure attenuator corrects the signal to correct recording levels.
