MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!! 2:45PM April 21

In little more than twenty-four hours a community of music lovers opened their hearts and wallets to help out a friend.  I'm sure Paul will follow-up with all that participated in this effort.  MicSupply.com was more than happy to be a facilitator in helping Paul replace his lost recording equipment.

Way to GO!!!

Hope to meet you some time in the taper section,
Dave Morrison

Help me find my gear, PLEASE!

A sad message from Paul....
(PLEASE DO HELP ME SPREAD THIS WORD)

Sadly, I had a green backpack disappear from the lobby of the Strater Hotel while checking in on Friday 4/16 around 3:30pm. Inside the backpack was a camera bag with my Sony M1 tape deck w/a 7 pin cable, my Denecke AD20 preamp, a pair of AKGC1000s microphones, lots of wires, cables, a battery pack and tons of D-cell & 9 volt batteries, other various audio stuff in zip locks, and a set of connectors for a vx pocket. One of two things happened: It was picked up by a bell boy and delivered to the wrong room, or it was stolen. In either case, it hasn't been returned. If you got home and realized you ended up with this gear by mistake, PLEASE get in touch. I am a 36 year old college student, a husband & father of three, and though this is not high end gear by any stretch, this stuff is more important to me than to whomever ended up with it. If you ended up with it by accident, PLEASE drop me an email and let me know. If you stole it and have had second thoughts, please just return it, no questions asked and I will hook you up with a stack of music, your postage costs to get the gear back, and my eternal gratitude. If you hear of someone who ended up with this stuff, please try to convince them to return it.The "no questions asked" address to return the gear:

Paul Rennix
3934 Highlands West Drive
Fort Collins, CO 80526

However and by whomever it is returned, I will assume it was delivered to the wrong room and that there was no foul and will be GLAD to reimburse you for mailing.

On a better note, Leigh Mackenzie and Chip Russell recorded every note of Reeltime Travelers at the Durango Meltdown and I hear they will be sending along the shows to go up here at this site. To those of you that were there, great to see and meet so many of you, and huge thanks to the generous, great pickers that really took the time to be so kind to my son Tyler.

Wish list:  +2 akg c1000s (ordered and paid for), mic cables (paid for), Sony PCM-M1 DAT deck (paid for), sony 7-pin active cable (paid for), vx pocket "connectors" (paid for), denecke ad20 (donated by MicSupply), power supply (paid for).  We are still shy about $0 to get Paul up and recording again. If you can contribute any of these items, please send me an email at dave@micsupply.com.

Posted 4/22/04 -- Follow-up note from the man himself - Paul Rennix...

Friends,

You all heard about my disappearing gear when I posted Monday afternoon.  I
woke up the next day to find my inbox full of so much love it really knocked
me off my feet.  Dave Morrison, a guy I've never even met in person, donated
a preamp and started the ball rolling on this donation thing at
micsupply.com.  I gotta admit, it was a really awkward feeling having
someone collect donations for my gear.  The emails kept coming in, tons of
them, with words of encouragement and love and hope.  I'm a pretty cynical
guy, grew up near Philly and can be a little rough around the edges and
really look at life expecting the worst too much of the time.

Despite my gear disappearing, I was forced to have a magical weekend in
Durango.  I would love to live there someday.  So many great pickers,
armature and pro, took so much time to be so kind to my son Tyler, watching
him pick in groups I could never hope to pick with, getting invited to
private picks, soaking this all in just had me beside myself with joy.
Since last Friday I've been on an emotional rollercoaster, and I feel like
whatever I say can't even express my joy.... I am at a loss for words.  I
don't feel like I deserve the love and kindness and help I received, and I
am humbled by the love you all sent my way and feel so privileged to be part
of this community.

I feel like my life has been forever changed by this.  It'll be great to be
taping again in no time, but the greatest gift of all is the realization
that I am surrounded by so many great friends around the country, some whom
I have never even met.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love, the donations, and
for touching me in ways I can't express.

I am truly blessed by eho you folks are

Take care,

Paul
