The much anticipated news that
the Edirol FA-101 arrived today is sweetened by the fact that there is
a new Core Audio driver for Panther that makes this Firewire device HOT.
Already "plug and play" on the Windows platform, with this updated driver
from Apple, the FA-101's flawless installation assures many happy customers
- both PC and Mac!
Record in full duplex mode - 10 tracks
of 24-bit/96 kHz audio, but if your computer is capable of handling the
load, you will be able to simultaneously record and playback, six of those
tracks at a phenomenal 24 bit 192 kHz!!! The FA-101 provides some serious
audio power for the studio musician.
The portable musician will place a high
value on the fact that the FA-101 draws its power completely from the Firewire
bus - there is no need for an electrical hookup. The DJ needing multiple
inputs will rely on the FA-101's chassis being rugged metal rather than
plastic so they can work clubs with confidence. The musician with a small
gig can leave their mixer at home and rely on the FA-101's two onboard
preamps. In the studio, the FA-101 becomes the center attraction allowing
multi-track recording through one Firewire interface into their computer.
The two XLR/TRS combo jacks allow balanced
mics for the most professional results and these same XLR inputs supply
phantom power to condenser mics. On the back of the FA-101 are 6 inputs
and 8 outputs which accept 1/4" TRS balanced connections. The front-mounted
S/P DIF optical I/O's transfer audio from other digital devices and the
built-in MIDI interface allows a synthesizer or controller keyboard to
be connected to the FA-101 for sequencing directly into a software program.
If you are looking for an audio interface
capable of simultaneous multi-channel recording on their computer at the
highest quality possible… we suggest the Edirol FA-101. Now enjoy the stability
in a Firewire audio interface with the FA-101.
